Sonesta Great Bay Beach Resort & Casino rang in the New Year with a $1 million total resort upgrade, ensuring a stellar 2011/2012 winter season. New first class amenities and activities make the beach getaway a must for vacationers on the island of Sint Maarten, ranked #5 among “Top 25 Destinations in the Caribbean & Mexico“ by TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice Award 2012.

New Resort Amenities

All 257 guest rooms and suites, featuring an elegant Caribbean style complemented with teakwood furniture and brilliant island prints, were given a full soft refurbishment, plus new flat screen TVs, new iPod clocks, upgraded bathroom amenities with products by Ecru New York and new Serta Presidential sleeper beds.

The casual-chic Bay View Restaurant, famous for its all-day dining with a gastronomic journey of choices for breakfast, lunch and dinner, also received an upgrade: its Bay View buffet was completely renovated for easier flow. To enhance the guest experience, an additional Bay View Grill Station was added with daily features of fresh fish from our local island waters. Guests will also enjoy new menus created by our new Executive Chef Floris Farber.

Opening soon, La Bella Vista Café will be the resort’s newest addition to its culinary experience. Guest will enjoy al fresco dining with spectacular waterfront vistas of Great Bay Harbor.

Beach amenities were also revamped, including a new Beach Bar, new beach lounges and umbrellas.

Entertainment and services have been also upgraded with daily activities for children and adults to enjoy. For families with children, Great Bay now offers a new Kids Club featuring children activities. Grownups looking for Lady Luck at The Golden Casino, which offers 84 slot machines, four blackjack tables, a roulette table and two golden poker tables, will be able to try their hand at new casino games. New hotel services include the addition of more retail shops such as a jewelry store and a tour desk.
