Size matters on Royal Princess

Wednesday, February 15, 2012

Princess Cruises’ newest flagship Royal Princess will sport a plus-size atrium when she debuts in June 2013.

Fifty percent larger than her sister ships, the ‘social hub’ of the vessel will feature an array of brand-new venues along with a twist on some passenger favourites.

“Many features aboard the new Royal Princess will be exciting evolutions of the popular and successful features found throughout our fleet and the atrium is no exception,” Princess Cruises executive vice president Jan Swartz said.

“The expansion in size of this space provided us an opportunity to add some brand new venues to what is already a favourite passenger area.”

Some of these venues include Italian cocktail bar ‘Bellinis’s’, the ‘Ocean Terrace’ seafood bar, a gelateria and the ‘Celebrations’ gift shop offering a range of unique gifts for special occasions celebrated onboard.

Passenger favourites the ‘International Café’, ‘Sabatini’s’ trattoria and ‘Crooners’ martini bar will return, along with the ‘Bar Piazza’ complete with over 300 tea and infusion combinations.

Deck 5 Atrium Features

International Café

Serving fresh-baked pastries, sandwiches, salads, specialty coffees and a range of desserts, this popular Princess staple will offer an expanded seating area and new lighting feature aboard Royal Princess.

Celebrations Gift Shop

‘Celebrations’ will offer a range of gift options for passengers celebrating a special occasion onboard including premium chocolates and flower arrangements.

Gelateria

Designer sundaes, sweet crespelle (Italian crepes), creamy fruit smoothies, milk shakes and homemade waffle ice cream cones will be on offer at this new venue.

Vines

As many as 30 different wines will be on offer by the glass, served alongside a selection of tapas and sushi, along with a retail store attached for wine purchases or gifts.

Bar Piazza and Tea Tower

This venue offers a vast array of options for passengers including a ‘twin tea tower’ serving up over 300 custom-made tea varieties and infusions.

Mini-Piazza and Water Feature

A unique water feature complements the mini-piazza where guests can access the Passenger Services Desk and Shore Excursion Desk.

Sabatini’s

Across from the Passenger Services Desk is Princess’ signature Tuscan-inspired ‘Sabatini’s’ a la carte trattoria offering a variety of pastas, seafood and Italian specialties.

Alfredo’s Pizzeria

With a reputation to upkeep as serving the best pizzas at sea, ‘Alfredo’s Pizzeria’ is a sit-down restaurant that will feature an expanded menu compared to its sister restaurant aboard Grand Princess. With more spacious seating for passengers, personal pizzas will be served direct from a stone oven.

Photo and Video Gallery

Gone are the days of spending hours searching for that professional photo that was taken the night before, with the introduction of digital photo stations to enable a more streamlined way of sourcing of images.

Deck 7 Atrium Features

Ocean Terrace
The all-new seafood bar will offer a vast array of meal options including sushi, sashimi, ceviche and caviar on a ‘floating’ podium above the piazza.

Crooners

This favourite will be expanded to offer 75 different martinis and a ‘sixties-style’ ambience complete with dueling glass pianos.
