The Meyer Werft flag was lowered and the Disney Cruise Line flag was raised in a traditional maritime ceremony marking the readiness of the company¡¯s newest cruise ship, the Disney Fantasy. Disney Cruise Line President Karl Holz said the ship resembles the superb craftsmanship from master shipbuilders at Meyer Werft and the imagination of the Disney team. ¡°Today we celebrate the culmination of a wonderful partnership, as we take possession of the Disney Fantasy and prepare for the journey home to Florida," Mr Holz said. ¡°We are eagerly anticipating our guests, who will experience storytelling in enchanting new ways onboard the Disney Fantasy while making magical memories that will last a lifetime.¡± Disney Cruise Line continues to take the family cruise experience to new heights with its two newly designed Disney ships, the first being the Disney Dream and her sister ship, Disney Fantasy. Meyer Werft Managing Director Bernard Meyer said the two sister ships are the largest ships that the company has ever constructed. ¡°Over the last five years we have developed an outstanding partnership working with Disney, and together, we have seen two magnificent ships became reality,¡± Mr Meyer said. The Disney fantasy was scheduled to depart Bremerhaven, Germany yesterday for its Atlantic voyage to the United States with an expected arrival to its homeport in Port Canaveral, Florida on 6 March 2012. |
