Night owls have ranked the city that never sleeps, New York, number one for nightlife, a new study has revealed.

The poll, conducted by Hotels.com, found Las Vegas to be the second most popular city after dark, while Los Angeles came in at ninth position.

European cities dominated the top of the list, with London placing third, followed by Paris, Barcelona, Berlin, Amsterdam and Madrid.

Bangkok, the only Asian city to crack the top ten, scrapped in at tenth position.
