The Travelocity Roaming Gnome sightsees South Africa

Wednesday, December 07, 2011

Travelocity’s Roaming Gnome® has teamed up with South African Airways to explore the attractions and sites of South Africa. The Roaming Gnome’s first trip to Africa includes a visit to Cape Town, the capital and second-most populous city in South Africa, followed by safaris at the Sabi Sands Game Reserve and ending in Johannesburg, the country’s largest city.

The Roaming Gnome will depart JFK International Airport in New York Thursday, December 1 on South African Airways flight SA 204 nonstop to South Africa. After boarding his connecting flight (South African Airways SA 323) in Johannesburg, the Roaming Gnome will arrive in Cape Town Friday, December 2, where he will enjoy a private tour of the Mother City itself. After a couple days of touring the Cape, the Roaming Gnome will travel to Sabi Sands Game Reserve and will go on four safaris in search of Africa’s big five – lions, elephants, leopards, rhinos and buffalos. The Roaming Gnome’s final destination is Johannesburg, where he will partake in the city’s numerous shopping, dining and entertainment options. On his last day in South Africa, the Roaming Gnome will take a full day Journey to Freedom tour to learn about country’s journey to achieving a truly democratic nation.
