Wolgan Valley gets green stamp of approval
Wolgan Valley, Australia's latest "uber-luxury" resort, has been given a carbon neutral certification from international recognised carboNZero within three months of its launch. To be reviewed annually, the new accreditation for the Wolgan Valley Resort & Spa recognises that the resort has committed itself to continuously managing and reducing its emissions, as well as neutralising its remaining emissions through the purchase of verifiable carbon credits. Situated on the borders of the Blue Mountains World Heritage Area, the AU$125 million Emirates Hotels & Resorts property was launched late last year. "We describe Wolgan Valley Resort & Spa as a luxury conservation-based tourist destination and it is essential that we make every possible effort to reflect this," Tony Williams, Senior Vice President, Resorts & Projects, Emirates Hotels & Resorts. "This certification is proof of our commitment to guests, to the environment and to Australia." New Zealand's carboNZero is an internationally accredited greenhouse gas certification programme, and the Wolgan Valley property has become the program's first ever resort to be given the carbon neutral certificate. |
